Loliware’s compostable, ocean-safe seaweed resins now available to Montachem’s global customer base

MILAN, 4-Sep-2023 — /EPR FOOD AND BEVERAGE NEWS/ — Montachem International, the global thermoplastics resin corporation, will announce tomorrow its move into biomaterials with U.S.-based Loliware, an award-winning materials science company. The debut marks the first time Montachem has adopted biomaterials into its European portfolio of plastic resins. The companies are debuting their seaweed-based resins at the Plast conference (Hall 9-Booth 141/142 A/B) in Milan tomorrow, an event that also marks Loliware’s entrance into Europe’s $3.5 billion bio-resin market.

The launch introduces Loliware’s compostable, ocean-safe seaweed resins to Montachem’s global customer base, expanding their product assortment beyond Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Polystyrene, PVC, and PET. The company expects to sign a full commercial agreement by the end of 2023, with a multi-year program to distribute Loliware’s seaweed resins for extrusion and injection molding to their manufacturing customers. Notably, Loliware’s SEA Technologyresins are engineered to be processed on existing plastics machinery.

Loliware’s entry into the EU market comes at a time when most currently available biomaterials have not met the strict regulatory requirements for home compostability, an issue Loliware solved early into its seven-year journey to design a better plastic alternative.

“We aim to be fully engaged with environmentally friendly materials that contribute to our ESG mission, and Loliware was the clear standout. Because these new resins fit into existing manufacturing equipment, it is an easy switch for our customers who want to diversify their product selection,” said Montachem President and CEO Jerry Murcia. “Expanding our resins with these revolutionary, versatile, modern materials is the right thing at the right time.”

“With Montachem, we can offer global plastic converters a cost-effective alternative that complies with new legislation, new customer demands, and new waste requirements,” said Loliware CEO Sea Briganti. “We look forward to the many innovative products produced with our compostable seaweed materials, beyond the straws and utensils already in hotels and restaurants across the United States.”

According to recent estimates by KPMG, the global plastics market is projected to reach $753 billion by 2026, with increasing demand for plastic products. At the same time, there are significant concerns over their environmental impacts, particularly the accumulation of plastic waste in the oceans. Governments and consumers alike are focusing on reducing plastic waste, the company said, and upstream companies are increasingly offering plastic alternatives to meet rising demands from customers and consumers.

About Montachem International (https://www.montachem.com)
Serving the plastics industry since 1988, Montachem distributes a complete line of thermoplastic resins and related additives to meet the needs of plastics’ converters around the globe. The pasteurization process employed by BevZero’s state-of-the-art unit not only ensures the safety of its products but also optimizes the stability of non-alcoholic beverages over time. By gently treating the beverages, the unit effectively inhibits the growth of harmful microorganisms that could compromise taste and freshness. Tanduay’s award-winning rum impressing connoisseurs in Austria

Andreas Osler, Weisshaus Managing Director, together with the Weisshaus team welcome Tanduay in their product line. Tanduay, a heritage brand produced in the Philippines, is the world’s top-selling rum.

VIENNA, 10-Jan-2023 — /EPR FOOD & BEVERAGE NEWS/ — Philippine brand Tanduay has partnered with Weisshaus, a leading distributor of international spirits, to bring the brand to Austria– making it the first Asian rum brand to enter the country.

Andreas Osler, Weisshaus Managing Director, said they see Tanduay’s enormous potential in their market.

“In our experience, rum connoisseurs in Austria generally like to experiment and are constantly on the lookout for new rums. Asian rums, in particular, are currently very popular, as they are also seen as an expression of the Asian way of life and nightlife, which is very trendy in this country,” he shared.

Rum is the second most popular among spirits in Austria and is consumed more frequently than whisky.

“Rum is enjoyed both at home and in bars and restaurants,” Osler said.

Tanduay President and COO Lucio Tan III shared that the brand’s entry into more European countries is an exciting new chapter in its 168-year-old history.

“It is a great time for Tanduay as we bring our Philippine-made rums to more countries that have a rich spirits culture. With Weisshaus as our partner, we believe that we will reach more customers in Austria,” he said.

Great Potential as a Sipping Rum, Perfect for Cocktails

Osler shared that the Tanduay Double Rum, one of the brand’s most-awarded products, impressed their team the most. They were surprised that no sugar was added during its production.

“It can become a serious competitor for leading rum brands in the premium rum segment in Austria. We see great potential in this rum to position it as a pure sipping rum,” he said.

The Tanduay Asian Rum Gold, Tanduay Asian Rum Silver, and Especia Spiced Rum, meanwhile, are perfect for mixing with trendy cocktails.

“They have what it takes to capture significant market shares from leading rum brands,” Osler pointed out.

Capturing the Austrian Rum Market

Osler shared that for Tanduay to gain a foothold in the Austrian rum market, they need to let consumers know the brand through “liquid to lips.”

To achieve this, Weishauss will bring Tanduay to trade fairs where they could give samples or hold tasting events and master classes.

“Among other things, we plan to offer Tanduay tasting samples in our shop. Due to the excellent quality of Tanduay rums, we assume that the initial spark for Tanduay’s success will have been given after this introductory phase,” he said.

Growing Global Presence

With its entry into Austria, Tanduay is steadily bringing its products to more European countries. In the past two years, it has already entered the markets of Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and the United Kingdom.

Tanduay is also available in 11 U.S. states and the territory of Guam, the United Arab Emirates, China, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Stuck for That Perfect Adult Stocking Stuffer? Need a Mommy’s Time Out After A Long Day At Home?

East Hanover, NJ, 2020-Dec-07 — /EPR FOOD & BEVERAGE NEWS/ — Mommy’s Time Out Wine is the perfect stocking stuffer, and can be enjoyed by just about anyone on your adult stocking stuffer list. Mommy’s Time Out features four varieties including Mommy’s Time Out Pinot Grigio, Mommy’s Time Out Moscato, Mommy’s Time Out Delicious Red, and Mommy’s Time Out Delicious Pink. All are made from grapes grown in Italy and have wonderful fruity undertones. All the wines are fresh, fruity and well balanced, and are delicious for sipping with snacks or to complement a meal.

Being at Home during the Holidays has changed. Hasn’t it? It used to be the place where we all relaxed after a hard day at work. Not now. We may be home monitoring the virtual learning of our children. We might be working longer hours, because work is now remote, and we still have to monitor the virtual learning of our children. We might have to make them lunch because our kitchen is now the school cafeteria. The producers of Mommy’s Time Out Wine understand and have offered the following thoughts to make the holidays the most enjoyable time of the year.

Keep the Holiday’s Simple; Celebrate at Home with Mommy’s Time Out wine. Being a parent is difficult enough. Make Some Memories that will Last a Lifetime. New Year’s Day is a great day to make some family memories. Try taking a family photo with someone holding up a sign with the year. It’s also a great day to measure everyone against the door jam, so they can look back at their growth in years to come. Remind each other and your children of all the good things that happened, and teach your family how to appreciate what they have. One way to do this is to ask each family member to write down three things they were thankful for in 2020 and share them over dinner during the Holidays or on New Year’s Eve.

“No matter what stage you’re at when it comes to being a Mommy, it’s one of the toughest and most rewarding jobs there is. That’s why we believe Mommy deserves something special for herself now and then, with Mommy’s Time Out Wine.” says Mike Cincotta President of Selective Wine Estates, Inc.

Adults over the age of 21 should enjoy Mommy’s Time Out responsibly.

Kentucky Pure lightly balanced mineral water soon to hit the shelves

VANCEBURG, KY, 2020-Oct-01 — /EPR FOOD & BEVERAGE NEWS/ — Some new kids on the block are emerging with a novel mineral water offering out of Kentucky, USA.

The company, River Rock Water LLC, is introducing its trademarked brand, Kentucky Pure Mineral Water. The brand offers exceptional taste and a unique, earth-friendly take on packaging. The company has been testing and developing this brand for five years to ensure the highest quality of “very light mineral” water available to consumers.

Kentucky Pure Mineral Water comes from an ancient aquifer that has been supplying the beautiful plains of Kentucky with its highly nutritional content for millions of years. As a testament to the water quality, 105 of the current 143 Kentucky Derby winners were raised on the nutritional grasses of Kentucky which were fed by these waters. Kentucky Pure lightly balanced mineral water is naturally packed with the optimum amount of minerals and trace elements required to promote biological health.

The founder, Tim LeMaster first drank from the well-head on a really hot day, sweating up a storm, and the water tasted so unique, the first words out of his mouth were, “Sweet Water”! As it turns out, farmers in the region had been saying that for centuries. Kentucky Pure Mineral Water has proven to be a real thirst quencher, satisfying the healthy need for refreshing hydration.

The entrepreneurial team behind Kentucky Pure are long time developers of new products. They have applied that product development experience to create a new development for water containers. Their design is 100% biodegradable, bypassing environmental concerns over the destruction and waste caused by traditional plastic water bottles.

Look for Kentucky Pure Mineral Water on store shelves soon.

Kickstarter Project ‘Did Ya Wheatgrass’ Implements Food-Safety Lab Testing to Validate Quality and Integrity

Pearland, TX, USA, 2020-Sep-15 — /EPR FOOD & BEVERAGE NEWS/ — Did Ya Wheatgrass launches their Kickstarter project, on Sept. 22, 2020. Besides growing, harvesting and juicing their own wheatgrass, Did Ya Wheatgrass validates their juice quality and integrity by food-safety testing their wheatgrass juice at an approved Food Technology & Processing laboratory. This ensures the highest quality product to the consumer.

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) states, “It is critical that the wheatgrass is grown from seeds that are processed and obtained from an approved source. The seeds need to be stored and handled to prevent the contamination with any pathogens.” The DSHS continues, “According to FDA, wheatgrass juice is a low acid juice and, under the proper conditions, the raw product is susceptible to the growth of Clostridium botulinum.”

Did Ya Wheatgrass founder Raquel Payan adds, “People don’t get to see the growing process that goes on behind the scenes. And the only way to validate the quality and integrity of the juice is by food-safety testing the wheatgrass juice at an approved Food Technology & Processing laboratory. We want to provide the consumer with the highest quality wheatgrass juice product.” People will ask Payan, ‘How do you get your wheatgrass so sweet tasting? How is it so green?’ Payan responds by saying that the secret is in the growing process. Did Ya Wheatgrass pays considerable attention to the growing process, since it is critical to the quality of juice produced. As a result, Did Ya Wheatgrass Juice Pops are E. Coli free, Salmonella free and Clostridium botulinum free.

The Kickstarter Project, ‘Did Ya Wheatgrass Juice Pops Food-Safety Lab Tested (Vegan Food)’, is scheduled to launch on Sept. 22, 2020. Take a peek and sign up for notifications to stay tuned. For additional information, visit their website: https://www.didyawheatgrass.com.
