Tanduay’s award-winning rum impressing connoisseurs in Austria

Andreas Osler, Weisshaus Managing Director, together with the Weisshaus team welcome Tanduay in their product line. Tanduay, a heritage brand produced in the Philippines, is the world’s top-selling rum.

VIENNA, 10-Jan-2023 — /EPR FOOD & BEVERAGE NEWS/ — Philippine brand Tanduay has partnered with Weisshaus, a leading distributor of international spirits, to bring the brand to Austria– making it the first Asian rum brand to enter the country.

Andreas Osler, Weisshaus Managing Director, said they see Tanduay’s enormous potential in their market.

“In our experience, rum connoisseurs in Austria generally like to experiment and are constantly on the lookout for new rums. Asian rums, in particular, are currently very popular, as they are also seen as an expression of the Asian way of life and nightlife, which is very trendy in this country,” he shared.

Rum is the second most popular among spirits in Austria and is consumed more frequently than whisky.

“Rum is enjoyed both at home and in bars and restaurants,” Osler said.

Tanduay President and COO Lucio Tan III shared that the brand’s entry into more European countries is an exciting new chapter in its 168-year-old history.

“It is a great time for Tanduay as we bring our Philippine-made rums to more countries that have a rich spirits culture. With Weisshaus as our partner, we believe that we will reach more customers in Austria,” he said.

Great Potential as a Sipping Rum, Perfect for Cocktails

Osler shared that the Tanduay Double Rum, one of the brand’s most-awarded products, impressed their team the most. They were surprised that no sugar was added during its production.

“It can become a serious competitor for leading rum brands in the premium rum segment in Austria. We see great potential in this rum to position it as a pure sipping rum,” he said.

The Tanduay Asian Rum Gold, Tanduay Asian Rum Silver, and Especia Spiced Rum, meanwhile, are perfect for mixing with trendy cocktails.

“They have what it takes to capture significant market shares from leading rum brands,” Osler pointed out.

Capturing the Austrian Rum Market

Osler shared that for Tanduay to gain a foothold in the Austrian rum market, they need to let consumers know the brand through “liquid to lips.”

To achieve this, Weishauss will bring Tanduay to trade fairs where they could give samples or hold tasting events and master classes.

“Among other things, we plan to offer Tanduay tasting samples in our shop. Due to the excellent quality of Tanduay rums, we assume that the initial spark for Tanduay’s success will have been given after this introductory phase,” he said.

Growing Global Presence

With its entry into Austria, Tanduay is steadily bringing its products to more European countries. In the past two years, it has already entered the markets of Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and the United Kingdom.

Tanduay is also available in 11 U.S. states and the territory of Guam, the United Arab Emirates, China, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

New Zealand based Behemoth Brewing takes time off Trump bashing to raise $3.5m for a new brewery and restaurant

Auckland, New Zealand, 2019-Jun-09 — /EPR Network/ — Behemoth Brewing, the New Zealand craft brewer whom last year took a jab at Donald Trump with their cheekily named “Dump the Trump IPA”, have launched an investment campaign in New Zealand.

The campaign is looking to raise $3.5m (New Zealand Dollars) to help fund a new brewery and restaurant in New Zealand’s biggest city, Auckland.

Behemoth came to global prominence last year when it brewed the afore mentioned Dump the Trump, an American style IPA. It followed this beer up with another brew designed to rile the US President, a peach sour called Im-Peach-ment.

When Behemoth brewed the latest batch of Dump the Trump in May 2018, it managed to get them trolled by US right-wing internet warriors. The Behemoth facebook page received hundreds of bad reviews and comments within a few hours.

The trolling made News headlines in New Zealand and soon after the New Zealand public rose to the defence of Behemoth, pushed the average review score back up and gave the hardliners a taste of the Kiwi sense of humour with some classic parochial responses to the nasty comments.

Ironically the publicity that the Trump-o-philes inadvertently created proved a catalyst for growth for the Behemoth beers. In the last year, their revenues grew by 136%, and they now export to 11 countries over the world.

The investment campaign which is currently live is open to qualified overseas investors and runs alongside a New Zealand only equity crowdfunding campaign. Since they went live on Thursday afternoon, the campaigns have already raised more than $800k in investment, halfway to the minimum amount required to close the combined offers.

Andrew Childs, Founder of Behemoth, said “The campaigns are going along well. We have had several qualified investors put in significant amounts so far, including one investor putting in $100k. We have some big plans for the future and are looking forward to welcoming new shareholders on our beery adventures. It would be great if we could get a few significant overseas investors, especially given we are now exporting all over the world.”

The campaign will run for the next month, or until fully subscribed. Qualified overseas investors can follow this link to find out more information and download the Information Memorandum:

Winecrasher.com launches revolutionary best value wine club

Napa, California, 2016-May-19 — /EPR Food & Beverage News/ — Winecrasher.com, announced today the launch of a new wine club based on the company’s unique “Crash Pricing” concept – which guarantees the best prices for critically rated wine.

winecrasher

In Winecrasher’s innovative concept, which was inspired by Hotwire/Priceline, the customer is shown all the info about a wine (rating, varietal, region and vintage) but the company only reveals the wine label and name of the winery after the purchase is complete. This discrete discount model allows Winecrasher to offer the greatest discounts on wines while protecting winery brands.

Winecrasher is extending this concept to it’s newly launched wine clubs which will offer customers a monthly subscription, for either three (3) or six (6) bottles of critically rated wines.

Each of the wine clubs is guaranteed the following:

  • The best price in the US market for each bottle
  • Each bottle sold has been critically rated by either Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, Antonio
    Galloni’s Vinous or Burghound.
  • Free California shipping and only $9.99 shipping nationwide (excluding UT, MA, PA, AK and HI)
  • Super easy cancellation – just send an email

In addition, Winecrasher will offer a premium experience through its personally tailored wine club for anyone who wants to customize their selection.

“We wanted to create a club where people can try new wines, without preconceived notions, while learning about new regions. With the guarantee that they’re getting the best value,” said Winecrasher’s Co-Founder and Wine Director, Nancy O’Connell. Nancy, who will manage and select the club’s wine portfolio, also mentioned that “While we choose the wines based on our own impressions, sourcing only critically rated wine allows the added assurance that the customers receive a product of verifiable quality.”

“This wine club concept ties in to the whole philosophy of Winecrasher,” said Winecrasher’s Founder, Niv Nissenson. “We feel that people are tired of wine clubs that market obscure wines or put high markups on the bottles sold. We think that wine consumers are equally dissatisfied with clubs that make it very easy to join but difficult to unsubscribe. At Winecrasher we aspire to create a wine club where the best price is guaranteed, every wine is rated and it’s very easy to cancel”

Winecrasher’s wine club can be accessed in the following link:http://www.winecrasher.com/Wine- Club_c_61.html

About Winecrasher:
Launched in Early 2016 in California, Winecrasher.com brings a new and unique marketing concept to U.S. wine retail. Inspired by Travel Websites Hotwire.com and Priceline.com , Winecrasher utilizes “crash pricing” to provide it’s customers with the guaranteed best value in wine. Winecrasher provides customers with all the information about a bottle of wine (region, varietal, score etc.) but only reveals the name of the wine after the purchase is complete. This allows Winecrasher to offer the guaranteed best prices in the market while protecting winery brands from public discounting. A win-wine for consumers and wineries!

Smart mini beer brewing appliance is going to change the brewing game

Los Angeles, CA, 2016-Apr-03 — /EPR FOOD & BEVERAGE NEWS/ — The ArtBrew beer brewing control system – designed, developed and marketed by an international-based team comprised of the world’s top engineers and brewers – has been officially launched at Kickstarter as an “inspired innovation” that will “change the concept of beer brewing.”

As of this writing, ArtBrew’s Kickstarter campaign has already got full funded within two days of being activated. And it will arrive at 200% of target very soon.

Boasting a premium structure that keeps both brewing and fermentation in one chassis and which automates nearly the entire process, the ArtBrew is the world’s newest, smartest beer brewing appliance featuring a unique mobile app that provides users another way to control the machine beyond the button on the 400 x 240 pixels LCD screen, either nearby or remotely with a Wi-Fi connection. This also allows for status tracking and access to a massive database containing a plethora of recipes from across the world.

Through ArtBrew’s innovative app, users can customize their own recipes while taking advantage of the social networking platform to obtain and share recipes they may not have had previous access to.

“The ArtBrew solution is going to change the brewing game not only because of its ability to keep the brewing tank and fermentation tank in one common chassis – one that boasts excellent structural design – but also because it’s a formidable control system with a myriad of sensors to control and provide feedback on the different processes,” states an ArtBrew spokesperson.

“What’s more, in this day and age of worldwide social networking, the ArtBrew app provides users an alternative control method for the machine, coming fully loaded with a recipe library that contains hundreds of recipes collected from the world’s most famous breweries, access to brewing process tracking with a real time curve, market access to all ArtBrew products and accessories, user notification of machine status and much more. To say the ArtBrew product is a forward-thinking, easy-to-use brewing solution is something of an understatement.”

A six-liter MiniKeg can represent a serving keg that the user simply leaves inside the machine to access the beer, or can work as a fermentation keg which the user can store in a refrigerator for fermentation purposes. Further, ArtBrew recipes are sorted in various categories, providing the user an easy way of finding the desired recipes while allowing the search process to commence by keyword or name. Users can create their own recipes and can also change or modify the original ArtBrew recipes to create a new one, free to then use/brew them or share with the public.

A Sweet Spin on Moonshine for Bloomery Distillery

Charles Town, West Virgina, July 03, 2015 — /EPR FOOD & BEVERAGE NEWS/ — FlipKey.com, the vacation rental company of leading travel site TripAdvisor has published its list of the 50 most loved and most talked about food and drink tours in almost every state across the U.S. And in West Virginia, the winner is Bloomery Plantation Distillery.

Capitalizing on the craving for locally sustainable craft distilleries and the nostalgia for moonshine, Bloomery’s SweetShine line of naturally flavored liqueurs are handcrafted from farm-fresh roots, fruits, and nuts.

The freshness of the line’s ingredients cannot be questioned, with all agricultural ingredients grown at the distillery’s own farm, local neighboring farms or other small American farms.

To date, more than 60,000 premium drink devotees have toured the distillery to savor an artisanal cocktail – whether it’s the ‘moonshine milkshake’ innovatively called Cremma Lemma or the chilled Chocolate Raspberry (a shot in hot coffee is bound to change one’s morning routine). With more than twenty-one international awards and too many cocktail enthusiast praises to count, the company is doing its part to take the restaurant, bar and hospitality industries to tasty new levels.

The entire process of creating the SweetShine line is handcrafted – from the hand-zesting of every lemon to the hand-chopping of the ginger to the hand-making of syrups to the actual handwriting that goes on every bottle of every label. Company founder Linda Losey claims with pride, “Consumers like a little bit of the unusual and appreciate our whimsical approach, but quality and taste are paramount – this is why we grow our own Italian lemons and Hawaiian ginger as well as our own black walnuts, pumpkins, and raspberries. Losey goes on to say, “Our fans trust our brand…and are comfortable and confident that when they grab a bottle of SweetShine, they can add it to any of their current cocktails and they’ll create a fresher, higher quality, premium cocktail that was a breeze to make.”

Bloomery SweetShine is currently distributed to retailers, bars and restaurants in 42 states and is on the fast track to further expand distribution.

About Bloomery SweetShine
Since opening as a mini-distillery in the agri-tourism industry in September of 2011, Bloomery Plantation Distillery has been capitalizing on the craving for locally sustainable craft distilleries, the nostalgia for the prohibition-era and the explosion of fruit flavored liqueurs through its hand-crafted, award-winning SweetShine line. With a sweet spin on moonshine, the company makes moonshine drinkable through its award-winning liqueurs that are hand-crafted from farm-fresh fruits, roots and nuts. To date, more than 60,000 premium drink devotees have visited the distillery to enjoy a SweetShine artisanal cocktail of their own amid affable company.

The distillery boasts a wildly unique, imaginative and fiercely dedicated staff led by company founder, Linda Losey. For staffers, SweetShine represents far more than just a product line but rather is regarded as a foundational philosophy—an adventurous and even risk-taking way of doing things…a spirited and amusing outlook on life. This viewpoint guides everything the company creates, and Bloomery’s passionate one-of-a-kind team attracts customers from around the world who believe in, connect with and trust the SweetShine brand.

The distillery, located two miles east of Charles Town, West Virginia, is situated on a 12-acre parcel of land where they grow farm-fresh ingredients used in the elixirs, including ginger, raspberries and lemons, among others. Putting their unique spin on the process of making moonshine, Bloomery’s all natural SweetShine is crafted using time-honored recipes with 190 proof ‘shine, pure cane sugar and garden-grown ingredients. The entire process is hand-crafted—from the hand-zesting of every lemon, to the hand-chopping of the ginger, to the hand picking of raspberries, to the hand-making of its syrups, to the handwriting that goes on every bottle of every label. Each batch is individually proofed; the finished liqueurs range from 40° to 70°. Truly handcrafted. And it shows. Just a touch of SweetShine quickly creates a classic cocktail with a twist—goodbye to boring unadventurous drinking! Bloomery SweetShine is currently distributed to retailers, bars and restaurants in 42 states, and continues to expand distribution nationally.

Redefining The Modern Wine Experience

Josh McFadden, the 31 yr. old Creative Director and Founder of Proof Wine Collective (a creative company dedicated to developing small-production, critically-acclaimed wineries) has big plans for a space of his own. The self-taught entrepreneur has spent over ten years mastering the ins and outs of the wine industry: working harvest, sommelier at restaurants, wine buyer, wine shop clerk, cellar rat, cook, server, and wine label designer… He’s been there!

After 4 years of building Proof from the ground up, Josh is ready to catapult himself into the next big project. Turncoat Wine Co. will be a wine bar located in the center of the rapidly growing wine region that is the Central Coast of California. Not only will it be a wine bar, the 4000 sq. ft. space will also offer a full service restaurant, wine shop, lesson room for tastings, and also act as an event location. Turncoat will create a much larger wine presence in the small downtown of San Luis Obispo, and put the area on the map as a top destination for lovers of wine, art and food. It is set to open its doors in early 2013.

The space will be a “living gallery”, as Josh describes it. “Imagine the most interesting party you’ve ever been to: you are meeting fascinating people, including awesome winemakers, offering you wines you’ve never seen, you are being offered food from the season you’ve never tasted, and you have at your disposal over 500 wines from wineries located everywhere in the world. The place will be a display of sensations, and the play between all of them: an interpretation-gasm.”

Needless to say, Josh is intent that Turncoat will be a work of art in itself. His repertoire includes labels on display at the SF MOMA, Trader Joes, as well as for many of the top wine producers of Paso Robles and Santa Barbara like Herman StorySans LiegeField RecordingsAlta Maria, and Force of Nature.

“The winemakers I’ve worked with, just like myself, don’t come from money or privilege.” Josh brings up. “We’ve had to make our own way and we couldn’t have made it this far without the support from our friends.”

In preparation for Turncoat, Proof Wine Collective has put together a compelling campaign to raise money and awareness on the crowd-funding site Kickstarter.com. They’re trying to raise $25,000 by Dec. 3rd in order to help fund some of the initial start up costs of the wine bar. Rewards for support vary from graphic t-shirts, fine art prints, and custom art pieces inspired by yourself. “One print we made is called Wine Pangea which is my attempt to simplify and beautify the world of wine; and the other is called Presidential Drugs of Choice it’s a print detailing every drug/vice done by each President,” explained Josh.  Both the prints reflect Proof’s unique creative style which reappropriates vintage engravings with colors, elegant typography, and new information.

Proof Wine Collective was founded in 2008 in order to create a world where curious and creative spirits may fall in love with wine. Visit their website atwww.proofwinecollective.com.

Perlage Systems, Inc. To Release Cocktail Carbonating System

On July 20th, Perlage Systems, Inc. will launch the Perlini Cocktail Carbonating System, at New Orleans’ Tales of the Cocktail. Perlini is the first and only carbonation product designed by and for professional bartenders, specifically for use in commercial environments, and specifically tailored to the needs of bars and restaurants.

“The craft of making cocktails has been around for over two centuries, so it’s rare when something comes along that is entirely new,” says Jamie Boudreau, noted mixologist.” Perlini is that rare, truly revolutionary product. Perlini gives us a whole new set of techniques, flavors, and textures to work with , and that is very exciting to the profession.”

Currently, sparkling cocktails are created by the addition of an effervescent component, like soda or Champagne. This results in a lightly carbonated drink that is diluted by that added carbonated beverage. Perlini, by contrast, infuses all the ingredients in the drink with effervescence —including the alcohol– creating a vigorously sparkling cocktail with persistent bubbles, as with a fine Champagne.  Perlini create s a multitude of unexplored options by using carbonation to create an entirely new category of cocktail.

“In 2004, on a whim, I showed the owners of the ZigZag Café in Seattle how to make a sparkling Cosmopolitan with an early prototype of the Perlage Champagne Preservation System,” says Evan Wallace, founder and president of Perlage Systems, Inc. It was kind of meant as a joke, but t hey just about flipped. Their enthusiasm spurred us to start working on a device specifically designed to carbonate cocktails, and that’s how the Perlini concept was born,” “Perlini was conceived in a bar, and we designed it from the ground up with constant input and feedback from professional bartenders to create the perfect tool—one that would work in the chaotic environment of a busy bar without impacting the traditional workflow of cocktail production.”

Even beyond the realm of mixology, the Perlini has a multitude of uses in the workplace as well as in the home. With its commercial and home versions, this product allows anyone and everyone to get in touch with their creative side. Chefs are finding dozens of uses for this device ranging from carbonating garnishes and marinating chicken, to creating sauces and more . From creating your own sparkling water, to carbonating cocktails, juices and even your coffee, there is an infinite number of possible concoctions—limited only by the imagination.

Perlini retails for $199 and comes with shaker, pressurizing filler, and 12 CO2 cartridges in an aluminum attaché case.

No Changes when Customers Select Christmas Wines

The ONLINE WINE RETAILER Serenata Wines sees that its UK clients are sticking to established choices this Christmas. The company does not glimpse any effects f r o m the financial difficulties that may still have its influence on the economy in the UK.

No Changes when Customers Select Christmas Wines

Serenata sees that Burgundy, a classical Christmas wine, is picking up gracefully in orders this time.

The London-based online wine specialist also revealed that additional established favorites, Port and Champagne, are proving admired.

Peter Ahl, Managing Director of Serenata Wines, said: “We routinely become aware of variations in wine popularity throughout different time of the year and have also noticed a number of influences f r o m current economical downturns, but this Christmas we see a solid growth and people buy the long-established wines.

“In Britain wine drinking is increasing steady. Every wine-growing state sends its stuff here which creates an embarrassment of choices. Buying wine online has too given people much extra choices and choice to acquire the most excellent. The selection of wines for Christmas is considered by many fairly confusing.

“Generally, Burgundy is considered the Christmas wine traditional. Many people who drink plenty of additional wines with a bit more ‘grip’ during the rest of the year do love their traditional Burgundy for their Xmas feast.

“Sparkling wine has its natural place in many social gatherings throughout Christmas time and the equally could be said for a glass of Port . Port which has a tendency to be replaced by other drinks still holds its position during Christmas.”

But Serenata’s out of the ordinary proposal for the ideal Christmas wine is a red wine that is not quite as conventional. Montepuliciano d’Abruzzo f r o m Valle Reale was the champion of Three Glasses in the 2009 Gambero Rosso Awards.

UK Wine Drinker Hazel Rigazio Has 2,015 Naked Wines’ Customers To Thank For Winning A Winemaking Trip To Mclaren Vale, South Australia

UK wine drinker Hazel Rigazio has 2,015 Naked Wines‘ customers to thank for winning a winemaking trip to McLaren Vale, South Australia.

Naked Wines, along with bbcgoodfood.com and the Government of South Australia, ran a competition throughout September challenging customers to come up with a new name for a wine, with Hazel’s entry Botanically Blessed winning the lions share of the public vote.

“I asked all of my friends to vote for my entry, but I never imagined I’d get 2,015 votes let alone win the competition, I’m absolutely astounded! It’s a once-in-a-lifetime trip and I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves, live the life of a winemaker, and blend my very own wine” explained Hazel.

Hazel, from Mersyside, will spend a week working alongside Naked Wines’ producer Jock Harvey at his family-run winery Chalk Hill, and if all goes according to plan, customers will see her tipple Botanically Blessed for sale in the UK on the Naked site.

“We had over 5,000 entries in total, with some really strong contenders – and some pretty ropey and inappropriate ones too!” explained Rowan Gormley, Founder of Naked Wines. “ But putting it to the public vote made it easy to pick the winner. We use our most interactive customers to help us select our wines, and it made sense to do the same with the competition.”

With the second most popular entry (ade-get-laide) receiving 433 votes, Hazel’s entry was the outright favourite.

Other entries included Didgeribooze, Down Wonder, Aussie Drools and Not for the Sheilas, with one entrant including a label design of his naked girlfriend posing strategically inside a six-bottle box (Robert Young Photography).

Hazel’s trip will include a stay on Kangaroo Island, a tour of Adelaide and numerous cellar-door tastings. And to find out how Hazel gets on, you can follow her blog at http://www.nakedwines.com/auscomp.

Beer Universe Announces Enhanced Beer Recommendations

Beer Universe, Inc. (Beer Universe or the “Company”), a social media / e-commerce website that revolutionizes the beer marketplace and community for beer enthusiasts of all ages, has announced the enhancement of its Beer Recommendation system. The Company believes that its new algorithm will allow users to truly get better recommendations of beers that they will want to try.

“Utilizing the principles of collaborative filtering, Beer Universe is able to accurately predict the variety of beers a user may enjoy,” said Angel Rivera, lead developer on the project. He continued “We firmly believe that our recommendation system is the best out there and will continue to make Beer Universe the best beer social network on the Internet.”

With the vast amount of beers available, it is often overwhelming for users to select new beers that they have not previously consumed. There are many different styles of beer that are available today, including:

•  Pilsners

•  Lagers

•  Bocks

•  Ales

•  Meads

Each of these categories can be broken down even further (IPA’s, Belgium Ales, Lights, Darks, etc). With over 3,000 beers in Beer Universe’s database – the Company alleviates the aimless search for good beer. By utilizing the ratings system on Beer Universe, users will be able to enhance their own recommendations – the more beers a user rates, the smarter the system gets and the better the recommendations become. Users at Beer Universe can either rate / review beers in order to have it incorporated into their preferences.

The Company encourages new users to utilize the system, as reviewing more beers leads to points, which are the incentive based system on Beer Universe. The more points members accrue the more free stuff that they possibly could earn, f r o m books based on beers to flat screen televisions.
